First project

This was the first project that I did for this class where we had to find a master work of art and make it our own. For this piece, I found a photograph of a bright cherry in a magazine page. I liked the image because it had a lot of values to it and I like drawing spherical or round objects. To make this piece my own, I changed up the color. Instead of bright red, I changed it to vibrant blue hues. I started this piece in a light graphite then used colored pencil to give it color. I started off by doing the water droplet on the side of the cherry. The red color was actually an accident. I was going to do the cherry in its original red color but then decided to change it. The droplet was finished before I decided to change the color. In the end, I actually liked how the red drop contrasted from the blue cherry. After i finished the droplet, I went on the the main part of the cherry. I started of with the white and light blue side to give the cherry a more realistic value to it. I then got darker as the light went away. I finished the cherry by doing the stem. originally, I was going to just keep the blank background but then I thought it would be cool to do geometric shapes. I did the lines and thought it wasn't enough so I added some color in some of the shapes.
